The Alberta Taekwondo Association (ATA) is dedicated to providing athletes with access to professionally trained and certified coaches who meet the highest standards set by Taekwondo Canada, the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC). This policy ensures all coaches are equipped to guide athletes at Alberta-sanctioned, national, and international events.
Coaching Standards
To Coach at Alberta-Sanctioned, National, and International Events: All coaches must:
Be Assistant Instructor (AI) and Dojang Coach (DC) certified.
Be a registered member in good standing with:
The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC)
The Alberta Taekwondo Association (ATA)
Taekwondo Canada (TC)
Coaching Guidelines
For Colour Belts:
ATA/TC member in good standing.
TC Assistant Instructor (AI) certified.
ATA Provincial Referee Course certificate.
Professional Dress Code: Tracksuit or semi-formal (no Dobok).
For Black Belts:
ATA/TC member in good standing.
1st Dan Black Belt or higher.
TC Dojang Coach (DC) certified.
Professional Dress Code: Tracksuit or semi-formal (no Dobok).
Certification Challenges
To support coaches in completing their certifications efficiently, Taekwondo Canada offers an evaluation process for experienced coaches to challenge AI, DC, and Performance Coach (PC) certifications in a single assessment.
